JAPANDI TREND: DORNBRACHT FITTINGS IN PRIVATE STOCKHOLM APARTMENT

Iserlohn, 6 June 2023

Architect Maria-Thérèse Kazantzidou skillfully combines Nordic Scandi style with traditional Japanese design principles, capturing the Japandi interiors trend within the spa and lounge area of a Stockholm apartment. This exceptional space marries minimalist simplicity with serenity.

Located in the vibrant Vasastaden district, the spa and lounge area exudes Scandinavian warmth and cosiness while embracing the refined aesthetic of wabi-sabi. Tactile and textural micro cement on the floor, walls and ceilings contrast beautifully with walnut fittings, including a sliding door inspired by traditional Japanese shōji doors.

Central to the design is the captivating Zen Garden, where a minimalist arrangement of pebbles, bonsai plants, and gentle pin lights rests upon a bed crafted from Jurassic limestone. The shower cubicle, designed as a steam shower, features Dornbracht's Vaia shower application in Brushed Dark Platinum, enhancing the soothing atmosphere. Custom-made mixers in the same finish adorn the washstand, adding to the overall purist ambience.

In perfect harmony with the Japandi style, the bathroom connects to a relaxation room, offering a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation. The lounge area features an inviting fireplace and a comfortable reading chair, creating a space for relaxation and self-care.

MarS Architecten Vilvoorde, Belgium

A modern home nestled in the Belgian countryside showcases Dornbracht's Tara fittings to great effect, contrasting neutral interiors with a stark black finish for a discerning industrial effect. Sleek and minimalist, the house's naturally understated and pared-back interiors have been enriched by warming tones of bleached oak throughout, from the open-plan living and dining space to the bedroom and bathrooms.

The spaces feature Dornbracht's iconic Tara fittings, whose slender spout and characteristic cross-handles bring functional and subtly utilitarian undertones to the spaces.

In the bathrooms, Tara is seen in the form of a wall-mounted tap and freestanding bath mixer that instil a streamlined, contemporary aesthetic that contrasts with the neutral colour palette of the rooms. A complementing shower pipe also features, completed with a Dornbracht Rain Shower that echoes the signature curves of the Tara design.

The kitchen channels the same modern style, accentuating the distinctive Tara kitchen tap mixer with dark tonal flooring. In addition to natural stone and wooden textures throughout the home, elements of steel underscore the characteristic silhouette of the tap fitting.

The Château de Vignée, Belgium

Once a traditional hunting lodge hotel, Château de Vignée is a luxury retreat with picturesque natural surroundings in the Belgian Ardennes. The refurbished boutique hotel boasts high-end design throughout its bar, lounge, restaurant and spa area. The spacious bathrooms in the junior suites feature undermount basins from the Alape Metaphor series and Dornbracht's classic Tara taps in Black Matt that seamlessly ties in with the marble and whitewashed walls adding depth to the high end interior design.

Triesch Residence, Berlin

Located in the Berlin suburb of Kleinmachnow, the modernist space channels the natural finishes of wood and glass to convey a sense of openness. The Residence’s owner, Lars Triesch, commissioned Ray Kappe to design his new home.

Kappe is highly regarded as one of the most important innovators of Southern Californian modernist architecture which is synonymous with open plan living, minimal structures inspired by traditional Japanese design and underscored with natural materials.

Having featured Dornbracht in a previous project, Kappe selected their Meta tap fittings and distinctive rain shower fittings, for all three of the home's bathrooms. Each space champions the minimalist compositions of wood, glass and stone – complemented by the sleek and stylish beauty of Dornbracht’s designs.

Hotel Seegarten, Sauerland

This restful haven located near Lake Sorpesee was renovated and refurbished by Berlin’s Studio Aisslinger. With an emphasis on untreated wood and stone finishes, its materials and fittings are a nod to the heritage of its region – with all lighting, furniture and homeware sourced from the Sauerland and surrounding areas.

Iserlohn-based and a close neighbour, Dornbracht is represented in their new bathrooms with fittings and shower solutions from the Meta series. The open-plan space is surrounded by striking terrazzo stone, complemented by Matt black Meta mixers that are mounted on the counter-top basins and above the bath.

The Botanic Sanctuary, Antwerp

A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Botanic Sanctuary occupies an important heritage site that leads back to the 15th century: A medieval monastery complex adjacent to Antwerp’s Botanical Gardens.

Spanning three floors the Botanic Health Spa, Dornbracht features there Brushed Dark Platinum Vaia taps positioned in the bathrooms, changing and massage rooms that fit in seamlessly with the balanced design language of the sanctuary.
